Job Description

As a Design Intern, you will support the development of creative and functional structural designs in the retail space. This role offers an opportunity to learn about working with external stakeholders, including dye makers and graphic suppliers. The ideal candidate is eager to develop their design skills, gain industry exposure, and enhance their proficiency in relevant design software.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the conceptualization and development of design ideas from initial sketches to final presentation.
• Support the design team with research, brainstorming, and the creation of mood boards.
• Create visual representations of ideas through sketching, digital tools, and rendering.
• Collaborate with team members to refine designs and contribute fresh perspectives.
• Learn about and apply industrial manufacturing techniques relevant to design projects.
• Assist in preparing CAD drawings and design documentation under supervision.
• Help with organizing and presenting design concepts internally and externally.
• Gain exposure to the POP retail design industry and understand how design impacts the field.
• Supporting designers with a variety of tasks including some prototyping work.
• Supporting other teams with their tasks such as set-ups, CAD-cutting, laser cutting and some light fabrication.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a University degree or College diploma in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or a related field .
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, SolidWorks, or Figma (basic knowledge is acceptable).
• Strong sketching and visualization skills, with a willingness to learn and improve.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and visual, to express design ideas clearly.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction well.
• Enthusiasm for learning about design processes, manufacturing techniques, and industry trends.
