Deerpath Capital is a leading direct lending firm specializing in providing first lien, senior debt financing to middle market companies. Deerpath is focused on providing debt capital for acquisitions, refinancings, ownership transitions and growth capital to companies in the U.S. lower middle market. Deerpath has investment offices in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale, as well as overseas investor relations offices in London, Seoul, Tokyo and Brisbane. The firm employs approximately 100 employees globally.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Managing Director, Investment professional to join our team based in the US but willing to travel both domestically and internationally on a frequent basis.

Primary responsibilities include

Investment Strategy and Execution:

  • Lead the sourcing and/or underwriting structuring, and execution of private credit transactions for direct lending.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, credit underwriting, and due diligence to identify attractive investment opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate borrowers, financial intermediaries, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead or manage credit agreement negotiations.
  • Manage and train mid-level and junior investment team members

Investor Relations:

  • Present investment team updates, performance reports, and strategic initiatives to investors, both in-person and through written materials.
  • Support the Investor Relations team in relationship management of existing and prospective investors, ensuring transparent communication and effective reporting.
  • Address investor inquiries and maintain a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Assist in the coordination and organization of investor meetings, webinars, and events, particularly with Asian investors.

Market Research and Insights:

  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and economic conditions that could impact private credit markets and investment strategies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership regarding market conditions, risk factors, and potential investment opportunities.

Asian Investor Engagement:

  • Leverage fluency in Korean, Japanese or German to engage with investors in South Korea/Japan and other regions, providing customized communication and materials.
  • Ensure that investment materials are translated and tailored for Korean, Japanese or German speaking stakeholders.
  • Both international and domestic travel frequently

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or CFA designation is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in private credit, investment banking, or asset management with a focus on credit transactions.
  • Proven track record in managing juniors
  • Experience with presenting to and working with institutional investors.
  • Strong financial modeling, analysis, and valuation skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Fluent in Korean, Japanese or German (both spoken and written); additional language skills are a plus.
  • Deep understanding of the private credit landscape, including market trends, regulatory environment, legal documentation terms and risk management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex transactions and manage multiple priorities.
