Job Description

Responsible for repairing, overhauling, and maintaining all plant equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Able to perform small engine repairs (gas)
  • Well-versed in gas, diesel, and hydraulic repairs
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose needed repairs for all items of equipment
  • Well-versed in conveyor systems
  • Heavy equipment mechanic
  • Capable of record keeping and other related administration requirements
  • Must be well-trained and certified in Lock-out and tag-out procedures
  • Must be trained and certified in confined space requirements
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Ability to analyze heavy equipment malfunctions and apply
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair vehicles and follow safety instructions and directions.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and other equipment.
  • Excellent active listening, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Regularly required to stand, twist, and walk
  • Must be able to use various hand tools or controls
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance on elevated surfaces; and stoop, kneel, squat, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant and continual medium to heavy manual, physical labor is required for this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements.
  • Moderate to high risk of safety precautions.
  • Moderate to high exposure to production environment.
  • Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather related) (plant specific)
  • Ability to work outside year-round (plant specific)
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
