Join to apply for the News Anchor role at Nexstar Media Group, Inc. The Nexstar Washington, DC Bureau has an immediate opening for an Anchor with a deep background in political reporting who can help the audience navigate the fast-paced world of national politics. The anchor will serve multiple platforms, including broadcast and CTV, across various entities housed in the facility. Along with a co-anchor, the successful candidate will lead coverage of political news stories and facilitate dynamic conversations with guests. Rigorously prepare for interviews by researching guests and topics, and strategize to enhance segment engagement. Demonstrate a proven track record of securing impactful news during interviews. Understand diverse viewpoints and incorporate them into conversations to help the audience grasp emerging trends or shifts in power. Maintain broad knowledge of current events and policies to provide contextual reporting. Assist in planning upcoming shows by identifying topics of high interest. Support segment producers in booking guests. Collaborate with Washington, DC entities like The Hill and NewsNation to curate compelling content. Ensure all content adheres to journalistic standards of integrity, quality, and fairness. Write and edit content for newscasts as needed. Participate actively in daily editorial meetings. Create content for digital platforms, including original web copy and CTV app content. Localize national content to make it relevant for regional audiences. Requirements & Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field, or equivalent experience. Fluency in English. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to ad lib. Minimum of five years’ experience in news reporting or anchoring, including at least 2 years in a large market. Strong on-air presence and team collaboration skills. Excellent news judgment and knowledge of current events, history, and policy issues. Experience in guiding and motivating team members. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of newsroom technology or ability to learn quickly. Effective listening and communication skills within a team. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Flexibility to work any shift and at any Nexstar location in DC, including 2121 Wisconsin Ave, NW and 400 North Capitol St, NW. Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
