Job Summary
The Transplant Nurse Coordinator is a professional registered nurse and a designated member of the transplant team who provides comprehensive nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies, procedures, and/or protocols under the supervision of the nursing leader. The RN helps maintain a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities safely. The RN maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served. A registered nurses practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
The Transplant Nurse Coordinator provides care in a variety of settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics and the community. In addition to providing direct and indirect patient care, transplant coordinators are also responsible for coordinating patient care in all phases of the transplant process, and advancing the nursing practice through education, evidence-based practice, and research.
The Transplant Nurse Coordinator II is part of the Transplant Nurse Clinical Ladder which outlines differentiation of pay by defining distinct levels of clinical and professional practice in nursing as a d emonstration of professional development support and clinical advancement . This clinical ladder for Transplant Coordinators is based on the 15 standards of practice described in the Introduction to Transplant Nursing: Core Competencies. Each progressive level subsumes the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the preceding level. Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Fast-paced clinic and inpatient setting. Involves standing, walking and bending.
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. BSN required; MSN preferred. Current NC Board of Nursing License. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required. 2 years' experience required; 5 years' experience preferred, will include a combination of end stage organ disease nursing, transplant care/exposure and/or outpatient transplant setting. Excellent oral and written communication collaborative and facilitative skills. Customer service/relations focus. Organization skills.
