Description

The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant assists in providing educational speech therapy services to students with speech-language disorders and impairments as prescribed by the Individual Educational Program (IEP).

  • Full-Time
  • Salary: $44K-87K per year

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and conduct therapy activities involving picture cards, worksheets, charts, games, and computerized therapy applications to achieve speech and language goals as documented in treatment plans.
  • Prepare augmented alternative communication software, devices, and/or equipment and assist students in their use in the classroom and therapy activities.
  • Document student progress towards meeting IEP goals and objectives by preparing charts, records, graphs, and assessment notes.
  • Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist during speech-language and hearing assessments and screenings without clinical interpretation.
  • Adapt and modify instructional materials as determined by student needs for teacher use in the classroom.
  • Attend and participate in in-service training sessions, workshops, and staff meetings.
  • Maintain student progress records as required.
  • Travel to multiple school sites within Los Angeles County may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Other Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent AND certificate of completion of a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant's program from an accredited institution.
  • Possession of valid registration as a Speech/Language Pathology Assistant with the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in California.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites.
