The Finance Department helps to coordinate the daily operations of CCV as well as plans for future growth.  The purpose of the Staff Accountant position is to assist the ministry efforts of the Finance Team through day-to-day accounting activities. 

Job Description



Essential Job Functions 

  • Prepare and distribute financial statements and supporting reports according to monthly close schedule for multiple entities 

  • Weekly processing of contributions 

  • Process monthly journal entries 

  • Analyze contributions and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis and report on variances 

  • Prepare monthly account and bank reconciliations, including research regarding discrepancies 

  • Assist with financial and tax audits 

  • Development and maintenance of financial systems and policies to ensure effective stewardship of church resources 

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required 

  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience preferably with a church or nonprofit organization 

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting practice 

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and communicate in a professional manner 

  • Microsoft Office experience, excellent working knowledge of Excel 

  • Must be able to pass an Accounting Proficiency test
