Job Description

Wanted: Water Treatment Plant Operator for Stone Bridge Fire District Water Department. Treatment & Distribution License not required, will train . Need to be able to lift 50 pounds. 40 -hour work week Treatment Plant hours of operation are 7 am - 3:30 pm Must be able to work, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as required. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to respond to the treatment plant located at 94 Quintal Drive, Tiverton, RI 02878 within 20 minutes in the case of an emergency. Compensation based upon experience. Operators Work Description Specific Duties: Operate the water treatment plant consisting of raw water and effluent pumps, pulsator-clarifyer, rapid-sand filter and powdered activated carbon feed system. Perform daily laboratory testing Perform miscellaneous water quality sampling (bacteria, lead/copper etc.) Monitor main control panel Monitor and calibrate chemical feeds Perform required maintenance on electrical, mechanical and instrumentation equipment Maintain daily logs and other records as required Adjust effluent water flows to accommodate variable demands of large wholesale customers Assume "on-call" responsibilities for treatment plant or distribution emergencies Attend seminars, classes etc. and use available materials necessary to attain at least a Class HI water treatment operators certification and to keep pace with ever-changing technologies and increasing regulatory requirements Participate in required safety training to maintain compliance with increasing work-place safety requirements Handle heavy bags and drums of chemicals(approx weight range:50-700 lbs) Enter and exit confined spaces such as meter pits and enclosed tanks Operate and maintain company vehicles Perform miscellaneous janitorial and yard maintenance duties which may include shoveling, lifting, climbing ladders, bending etc.. Operate and maintain an outboard motor boat Perform water sampling, chemical treatment and monitor reservoir conditions and other duties required for proper reservoir management Install, repair and read house meters Respond to house service and distribution emergencies Be able to enter and exit water main and service trenches for inspection purposes Maintain Hydrants (service, repair, flush, paint, mow, grub, clear brush and shovel snow) Coordinate emergency and other water main repairs Perform other various and numerous tasks as they may present themselves Be capable of performing required duties without supervision on weekends, holidays, etc. Present a professional appearance and demeanor in all manner of customer/public relations Please forward resumes and references to Stone Bridge Fire District, 1765 Main Road, Tiverton, RI 02878 by noon February 7th 2025 Equal Opportunity Employer: We are an equal opportunity employer.
